Crockpot Pork Roast

I always get excited when I see a good meat sale. This week Hy-Vee had pork shoulder roasts on sale for 99 cents a pound.  You bet your sweet behind I went and got one! Nothing beats a tender roast falling apart as you take it out of the crockpot on a dreary day.  You can use this recipe for beef or pork!

Ingredients:
7 lb. pork shoulder roast
1 envelope dry onion soup
2 tbsp. minced garlic
1 cup beef broth
1 cup water
Salt and Pepper

Pour water and beef brother in crockpot.  Add roast.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper, followed by the soup packet and minced garlic.  Set on low for 8 hours.  Remove from crockpot and let sit for a few minutes before cutting. Enjoy!

Leftover pot roast sandwiches

Sunday I made a pot roast. Yum.  Instead of using regular cola I used rootbeer and it turned out great with a little added zing.  But I had lots of roast left over.  There’s a little café I love that serves pot roast sandwiches which are to die for.  So I used my leftovers to create a little slice of heaven like the ones they serve.

Ingredients:
2 pieces Italian bread
Roast
Mozzarella cheese
Butter
Garlic

In a pot on medium heat warm roast and leftover au jus.  Butter one side of bread and sprinkle with garlic.  Set face down on your pizzazz or a cookie sheet.  If using the oven preheat to 350 degrees.

Once roast is warmed through pull out the meat and place on bread.  Pour juice into a bowl.  Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella or your favorite cheese.  Bake 10 minutes until the cheese on is melty and golden brown.  I did this on the pizzazz and it took about 8 minutes.  It came out perfectly golden brown on the bottom and melted goodness on the top.  Dip in the au jus and enjoy! Easy, filling and delicious!

World’s easiest crockpot roast recipe

Review by Lyndee:

It doesn’t matter if you aren’t a whiz in the kitchen, it would be really hard to mess this recipe up and that’s pretty much awesome.

Ingredients:
1 pork roast (3-4 pounds)
1 can of Coke or Pepsi
Salt & pepper
Diced onion (optional)

Place roast in crockpot.  Add one can of cola. I used Pepsi because that’s what we had in the fridge.  I placed a few diced onions on top of the roast and then sprinkled with salt and pepper.  Set the crockpot to cook on low for 8 hours.

We wanted to make a roast the other day in the crockpot.  I didn’t have any potatoes and carrots on hand, which I would usually pair with it.  So I went online and searched these “pop can roasts” I had heard so much about.  All the reviews were great but I was still skeptical.  After 8 hours when I went to pull the roast out, it was so tender it fell into pieces.  It tasted delicious too! We put a big dent in it that night, paired with some tater tots.  Then ate the rest up throughout the week with some barbeque sauce on sandwiches.  It was awesome both ways. It doesn’t get much easier than that to make a yummy roast on a cold winter day.

French Dips in the Crockpot

Review by Lyndee:

2-4 pounds of some type of roast meat (rump roast, chuck roast, etc!)
1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth
1 can (10.5 oz) french onion soup
1 bottle or can (12 oz) beer (or equal amount of water or broth)
french rolls or other crusty rolls
sliced cheese (Swiss, Provolone…I used pepperjack)

Place your roast in the crockpot and pour the broth, french onion soup and beer on top. Cover and cook on low heat for 7-8 hours. About 30 minutes before eating, take out the meat and shred. Place meat back into the juices and stir to flavor all the meat. Split your rolls and top with sliced cheese. Bake at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes or until rolls are nice and toasty. Top rolls with shredded meat and add a cup of the au jus (yummy meat juices) on the side to dip your sandwich in.

This recipe was awesome! It couldn’t have been any easier to make and the taste was superb.  Such a great variation to our traditional roasts in the crockpots I’ve always made.  I will definitely be making these again.

Roast in the crockpot

Review by Lyndee:

Ingredients:
Pork roast
Worcestershire sauce
Dry rub or montreal steak seasoning
onions

Directions:
Dice up some onions and put about half of them in the bottom of the crockpot.  Lay roast on top of it.  Pour on 8-10 dashes of Worcestershire sauce.  Then coat with a dry rub and garlic.  Add more onions on top of the roast.  Add ½ cup of water around the edges.  Cook in crockpot on low for 8 hours or until meat reaches 170 degrees.
