Reese’s peanut butter cup rice krispies

Review by Lyndee

Ingredients:
4 peanut butter cups
2 tbsp peanut butter
6 cups of rice krispies

Directions:
Melt peanut butter and peanut butter cups in a pan with butter.  Add 6 cups of rice krispies.  Drop and cool on a sheet or press into a buttered baking dish.  Cut into squares when cool.

This recipe was wrong.  The people that pinned it are obviously missing an ingredient.  There were way too many rice krispies and not enough goo.  They didn’t stick together.  I even melted some more peanut butter, cups and kara syrup together and added that when I realized they weren’t going to stick.  It helped a little bit but basically you just have flavored rice krispies.  Don’t get me wrong, the flavor is awesome.  Sprinkle this on some ice cream or just eat it with a spoon, but these do not work for bars or cookies.  Total bummer.

  1. The pin also said 3 tblsp butter, but it still didnt work for me either. Now using it as ice cream topping whomp whomp

  2. I'm thinking this needs the 3 tblsp of butter AND a bag of mini marshmallows melted along with the peanut butter and Reeese's cups. Then it would be pretty much like the orignal Rice Krispies Treats recipe, with the addition of the PB and Reese's. At least I'm going to try it that way this weekend! - Bonnie W.

  3. I added a couple tablespoons more of melted butter, 2 more peanut butter cups melted, and almost a whole bag of melted marshmallows just to see if I could save the ingredients. Not a happy homemaker for sure.... GRRR!

  4. Wish I had seen this review BEFORE trying the recipe. Went back and melted a bag of mini marshmallows in order to salvage.

  5. I put off making this recipe because it didn't look like it had enough stuff to make it stick together and guess what it didn't stick together at all. It's just crumbly.

It's the worst recipe I've ever made in my 53 years of cooking!

  6. Yep, came out not sticking together. Got recipe off Facebook. I also added more PB cups & butter trying to salvage, then finally melted the marshmallows & butter to make it stick like regular rice crispy treats. It tastes a little too buttery now. Horrible recipe. Think we've all been dooped.

  9. Just made it and went back to see if I forgot an ingredient. Does not stick together. Glad I had a back-up plan for what I was bringing to dinner. Disappointed.

  10. I just made this and mine turned out GREAT with a couple added ingredients. I melted 3 tbsp of butter, then I added a small bag of marshmallows and melted those into the butter (in the meantime, I melted 8 Reeses cups in a bowl in the Microwave, careful not to burn them), then when the marshmallows were creamy, I added the melted Reeses cups and 3 tbsp of peanut butter. I mixed it all up and then added 5 cups of Rice Crispies. Mixed them all together and put them on a greased pan. When they cooled, they were perfect and held together just like Rice Crispy Treats usually do. Good Luck all.

  13. On pinterest if you click the link and read the recipe on the blog it was pinned from, there is sugar, corn syrup, over a cup of peanut butter, and chocolate chips in the original recipe.

  16. My granddaughters and I also failed with the originally published recipe. We decided to make pour some milk on and cereal out of it - it was pretty good!. I'm gonna try and save what's left of the batch with some marshmallow creme.
